Browse Safely While Seeking Help

Your safety and privacy come first. If you are looking for information about domestic violence, sexual assault, or other forms of abuse, it's important to know that an abusive partner or family member may monitor your online activity. This page explains simple steps you can take to browse more privately, reduce your digital footprint, and access support more safely.

If you are in immediate danger, use the Quick Exit button or leave this page and call 911 or the 24/7 crisis line.

Quick Exit

Some websites, including ours, offer a Quick Exit button that instantly redirects you to a neutral website if you need to leave this page quickly. Keep in mind that using the Quick Exit feature does not clear your browsing history or other traces of your visit. If you are concerned someone may check your device, review the additional privacy tips below.

Additional Safety Tips
  • Use a Safe Device: If possible, use a device your abuser cannot access (like a friend’s phone, a library computer, or a workplace device).
  • Use a Search Engine That Doesn’t Track: DuckDuckGo does not save search history.
  • Disable Auto-Fill and Saved Passwords: Check your browser settings to ensure your login information is not stored.
  • Be Cautious with Email & Social Media: Log out after each use, and avoid using shared devices for personal accounts.
  • Use a VPN: If you suspect your internet activity is being monitored, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can help hide your browsing activity.
